Our community has many talented and skilled Guardians in it, some of those Guardians are artists. Each week we at DTR (Destiny Tracker) will showcase some works of art created by one of our very talented artists in the Destiny community and get to know alittle about them. This week, our spotlight goes out to a Guardian who began dabbling and discovering with his own creativity early on in his life " listening to Saturday morning cartoons on the radio (we didn't have a tv back then) really helped me to imagine the characters in my own way. How they moved, what they looked like, you had to imagine it cause there was no reference. So I’d draw out the characters according to what I had imagined. Later comic books were a huge inspiration in how I wanted to develop a style of illustration, using shapes to create an object or scene tell a story. Also having family in the New York graffiti scene, seeing my uncles go to the walls and meet up with other artists to paint the same wall was really awesome". IndulgentHuman started playing Destiny during the Beta like so many other incredible Guardians, asking how did he come to find Destiny and what class of Guardian he mains IndulgentHuman replied saying " a friend told me Bungie started making a new game and we had played Halo all through High School so it was a no-brainer to jump in a give it a try. Funny enough I started as a Warlock in the beta, but quickly fell in love with the feel of how well a Hunter moved. It just felt like a natural fit to how I like to play, reminding me of old-school platformers like Ninja Gaiden and Strider". IndulgentHumans' creativity and talent as an artist can be seen throughout the community and be seen immortalized in the enamel pins he has created from his art. With creating something so unique I asked IndulegentHuman what inspired or influenced him to create destiny themed pins and other incredible pieces like his stickers or playing cards " Last year I had gone to PAX East and browsing around some of the booths I noticed a bunch of vendors had pins using art from their games and realized those were pretty dope. So I picked up a few and kept wondering how they were made in terms of fabrication, cost, limitations, etc… and got lost in research land, haha. Around this time I was making Stickers for my Final Boss series and my year 2 playing cards for Guardian Con. Then at GC17 Lazesummerstone had some really cool ones made for his Watermelon Exo comic and that really inspired me to make some. I wanted to make something cool, in homage to to a game I really enjoyed over the last few years."

Destiny has opened the door for tapping into ones creativity enabling some to break down barriers that would other wise hold them back from creating something or doing something they truly enjoy and love. Asking IndulgentHuman what his favorite choice of medium is when creating a piece is and what is the process he goes through with creating each of his incredibly unique one of a kind pins " I always start with pencil and paper, you can get out a lot of ideas rather quickly. It also gives me a better visual of how things can translate when I move over to Adobe Illustrator, which is where I finish off pretty much everything I work on. Sure, ideas usually start with some notation on the subject I’d like to tackle, maybe what colors I’d like to use, reference to any elements that I’d like to keep in mind. Then I’ll sketch out a couple rough ideas iterating as I go along (usually around 3 or 4 sketches) once I’m happy with how things look I’ll bring it into illustrator and start the line work adjusting as I go along, keeping in mind the tolerances/limitations that the pin mold may have. Once I'm happy with the lines I’ll move onto the colors, I usually have an idea of what scheme I’d like to use but that can change depending on whether they actually mesh with each other as well as the pin metal. After that I’ll move on to the backing, usually keeping the color scheme cohesive by using the dominant pin color for the base and a complimentary one for the accents. After that's all done, I’ll export the assets to both After Effects and Photoshop to create mockups and gifs for the store and social media. It is truly incredible what IndulgentHuman does with what he creates, with such unique one of a kind pieces and a time consuming process for each piece that ends with his pieces bringing joy and excitement to the community and beyond. Each piece is detailed that is pleasing to the eye as it dances around each work he creates, asking IndulgentHuman how long it take to get to a final piece for everyone to enjoy he responded " It really depends on a how complex the design is, I would say about a week to get the design of both the pin and the backing card to a point where I'm happy with it. I’d usually leave it for a day or two so I can look at the design with fresh eyes, usually to spot any issues or nuances I may have overlooked. The longest part though is getting them made, that usually takes about 3 weeks to get done".

IndulgentHuman has inspired many others in the community to embrace their own creativity with his pieces. Each piece has levels of detail and designs when each are placed together create a truly beautiful piece. Being a member of the community for some time now I asked IndulgentHuman what his favorite part of the community is for him " Definitely the friends I’ve made over the last few years, whether it's the raid team I met over four years ago to the artists in the DCA to the streamers. Everyone’s been really awesome to meet" IndulgentHuman replied. The Destiny community is unlike any other gaming community in that the friendships and connections will last a life time. No matter whats going on in the game of Destiny, the community has grown to have a life of itself expanding and ever growing with friendships. The community and all its members continue to express itself with creativity that comes from all the incredible artists and content creators in it as more each day display their own creative works to the community. The honor of having Indulgenthuman as this weeks community artist spotlight can not be expressed with words and has been a complete joy. Having a glimpse at the process of how he creates all his wonderful pieces I could not be more thankful and honored. Indulgenthuman is truly a talented artist that continues to grow at his craft with each piece he creates as countless others continue to discover and enjoy all his other works. Asking Indulgenthuman if he would one day do a collaborative pin with another artist in the community and who he would enjoy having the pleasure of working with he replied saying excitedly " Of course! Man, there are too many to name. I think Boompus and AR-McD would make some really cool ones, both of their art styles are really dope. Brian Moncus, Kevin Raganit, Ian Pesty, they’d be some sick collab partners, Dr. Assenov the list can go on!". All are incredible artists around the community and each like Indulgenthuman have a recognizable style that continues to amazing people with each piece being better than the last. Our community is truly fortunate to have such a talented artist like Indulgenthuman in it that brings so much joy to Guardians with his unique styles and creativity works, we all look forward to what he has in store for us next as he continues to create new pieces each day. You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.” ? Bruce Lee
