A host of Season of Opulence information dropped this week, and Bungie isn't holding back any punches about what's coming with the June expansion - a host of re-skinned guns, three powerful new Pinnacle weapons, and the Crown of Sorrows Raid that will see Guardians go head to head in a "competitive new Worlds First mode" when it releases.

Perhaps the most interesting of the new content teased ahead of the June 4 drop, however, is the gamemode that glutinous Emperor Calus - who is basically the figurehead of this new opulent season - is bringing to the fold. The six-player event will see Guardians "prove their worth" in a new arena called The Menagerie.

Before Guardians can have a crack at Calus' Menagerie, however, the huge Cabal loyalist will send Annual Pass owners on treasure hunts throughout the solar system to unlock the power of 'The Chalice of Opulence.' These upgrades, collected before you crack into the new gamemode, will allow you to choose what kind of gear you earn from the Menagerie's battles.

The Menagerie itself is set to be an interesting challenge. Calus has crafted a maze of challenges in his lost vaults, where you must "test your strength" in the matchmade activity. There's a host of rewards to be collected for beating Calus' trials as well, with the optional choice of refining your rewards to better suit exactly what you're looking to earn from the Menagerie.

All of this is available as long as you've completed the Forsaken campaign that released ahead of Destiny 2's Season Pass. You'll even be able to complete an Imperial Summons quest that fires your power level into the stratosphere at a lofty 690, ready for the Menagerie.

Bungie has also confirmed more bosses will be added to Emperor Calus' interesting event mode on June 11, and June 18, before a heroic version of the mode will be patched into the game a week after that period on June 25. It's reported the heroic Menagerie will require you to build your own six-player roster, rather than just join other Guardians in the matchmade lobbies.
