Bungie has confirmed the wait for new information is over, with the company set to reveal "the next chapter of Destiny 2" after the upcoming release of the Season of Opulence.

Since Bungie announced in January that they would be breaking their ten-year publishing agreement with Activision, effective immediately upon the news being released, Guardians have waited with bated breath for news of what the next steps for the game developers would be.

Many theorised that Destiny 2, which had a lot of input from Activision in its development and pathways, would be left behind in favour for a fully Bungie-controlled title release - likely Destiny 3. Others thought the franchise may move away from the season pass format of recent times.

Bungie will announce all the new information that players have been waiting for at 10am PT, on Thursday, June 6, to reveal what the "next chapter" will. It's still a week away, but it's a small wait considering many have been on the edge of their seats since the Activision news in January.

The information will reportedly be coming in the form of a livestream, with Bungie personalities set to lay the future of the franchise all on the table for fans. It's exciting, for sure, especially considering the company said they would be looking for "unbound opportunities and potential in Destiny" after splitting from their parent company.

"We know self-publishing won't be easy, and there's still so much for us to learn as we grow as an independent, global studio," Bungie said after the split from Activision.

For now, we can theorise about what the content will include. It's likely the timing of the announcement means that the new news will tie into the Season of Opulence's exciting new raid the Crown of Sorrows. There are even some reports that the new content will be based around the Dreadnaught, a popular Destiny location in the series' first release.

After Bungie's mysterious announcement about their June 6 stream, Geoff Keighley also revealed he would be sitting down with the Bungie team at the upcoming E3 2019 event. There, they will run a panel titled "The Future of Bungie and Destiny 2" on Tuesday, June 11. That panel will be running from midday.
